Age

The main age range that use Facebook is between 18-29 years old and that is a huge 87% of the user population followed by the ages 30 – 49 years old (73%). This suggests that the younger generation tend to use Facebook more than the older.

Women use Facebook more than men on a day to day basis. 66% of men use Facebook whereas 77% of women use Facebook.

71% of users live in an urban environment whereas 72% of users live in a suburban environment. 69% of users live in rural areas. This shows a widespread and balanced distribution of users. The chart below also shows users around the world.

Twitter is used by a wide range of people and has an estimated 1.3 billion users. 33% of users use Twitter to stay in touch with people, promote themselves and share opinions on products and companies and an estimated 32% use Twitter to make recommendations about products and companies. Finally an estimated 30% use it to ask for recommendations.

Age

The most popular age group within Twitter is between 18-29 which is the age of 37% of users. There is only 10% of users that are age 65 or over.

Gender

There is an even split between male and female users however recently the amount of men using twitter has increased more than women. Men increased by 7% whereas women users only increased by 3%.

Location

In 2014 there were 25% of all users lived in an urban area and 23% of users lived in suburban areas.

Devices

The devices mainly used for Twitter is mobile phones which accounts for 86% of Twitter’s revenue and 90% of twitter videos occur on mobile devices.

Number of users .

Twitter  has 1.3 billion users to the site and about 310 million monthly active users.

This means that about 25% of people who try twitter stay active on the site.
